Step by Step Directions

Fabric Selection: Select fabric to compliment your room decor.

Test Fabric: First of all, test the fabric to make sure it doesn’t bleed.  Key point is that you don’t want a bleeding fabric to leave its mark on the wall.  As a matter of fact, it’s best to avoid using such fabric.

Cut Out Designs: Use scissors to cut out designs.

Boil Water: Pour water in sauce pan and bring to boil.

Mix Cornstarch: While waiting for water to boil, put cornstarch into bowl and add 1/4 cup room temperature water to make a paste.  Do not make it too thick.  You should be able to use the whisk and mix it free of lumps.  Add more water if needed.

Add Hot Water: Pour cornstarch mixture into the pot with hot water and mix well.  On low heat, whisk the mixture until it is thick and free of lumps.  Once the mixture is thick enough, turn off the heat and set pot aside for the cornstarch mixture to cool.

Applying Paste: When the mixture is cool, use the paintbrush and apply it to the area to be decorated.  Place fabric cut-outs smoothly in place creating your own lay-out design.  Make adjustments as necessary.

Concluding Thoughts

A key point to bear in mind is that very heavy fabric may not work well with the cornstarch mixture.  Therefore using a lighter fabric is a better choice.  Remember, fabric with letters work well to cut out names.
