Great post, they stenciles sound real easy to use.
I live in New Zealand and we have a pre -school movement here called Playcentre, my three children went through it. The principle is learning through play, high parent training and involvement.

Learning through play is so important for young kids. It reinforces and fosters learning.

I like the idea of affordable improvements to play areas for kids. The use of stencils – and a little color and imagination – would also infuse a sense of pride in that play environment too, wouldn’t you think? Seems like a great thing all around.
    Keep up your great work!

These playground stencils for kids sure do add color to play areas. The environment comes to life with the sound of kids playing. It’s a great thing to have on playgrounds.

    Hi Carol,
I love the idea of using stencils on a playground! The first thing that comes to mind for me is Safety Town. I don’t know if you have them where you live, but here in NE Ohio it’s pretty popular. It’s a “summer program is open to children entering kindergarten in the fall and features an actual town setup, complete with streets, crosswalks, stop signs and traffic signals that will help prepare children for school” according to our city rec department.
So where can people get these stencils, or do you recommend making them yourself?

    • Carol April 20, 2017 at 6:13 pm

      Hi Suzi,
Nice to know that your area has some playground stencils for kids. I wish there were more all over the country, but it is catching on. We don’t have them where I live yet, but I hope that my article will convince someone to start setting them up in the parks. These playground stencils are available online at:, plus others, even Home Depot.

    • Carol April 20, 2017 at 6:14 pm

We can make them too Suzi, especially the hop scotch game. This one is easy to draw with chalk.

What a great idea. I love it! Kids need to be outside more and put down the video games. I could definitely see these being popular in my city here in Canada. Is there shipping to Canada? Thanks

Can you imagine the beauty of children having fun with these on the playground and the health benefits? Some companies do ship to Canada.

Great post! I think that educating your children through playing is one of the best methods that you can possibly apply. Using stencils sounds pretty interesting and it is a simply way to do this. Great post, I almost forgot how useful in children’s development can stencils be.

This sounds interesting. My kids don’t really play outside much but they do like drawing so I think they will love these playground stencils. The Hop Scotch game sounds like fun! I agree. Children learn through play and this is a good way for them to learn.

    • Carol April 21, 2017 at 9:05 pm

Sure is Yvonne. You can make your own hop scotch game, even by just using chalk. The kids will still enjoy it.

I love the idea of Stencils and the fact that you can improve the play area in budget. I was not aware of playground stencils. I have a boy and he’s growing fast. I will surely use the information you have shared to make a fun play area!

Playground stencils are becoming popular. They are also used in schools especially at recess time. I hope your son will have lots of fun with you at the play area. It’s good for kids to take a break from the digital techs. What do you think?
